STARTING April 24, Wednesday, the Bangsamoro Airways, a pioneering airline based in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), will start its maiden flight across the region.
The Bangsamoro Airways is operated by the Federal Airways Incorporated.
It aims to connect the mainland BARMM to their island provinces in order to conduct a provision of more significant services accessible, strengthen bureaucracy and logistics, and bolster the region’s economy, tourism, and employment, among others.
According to Bangsamoro Board of Investments (BBOI) Chairperson Mohammad Pasigan the said trip will initially fly to Zamboanga City and Sulu Province and cater to six and ten passengers, respectively, including the aviators.
The flight will then extend their services to the municipalities of Sibutu and Mapun in Tawi-Tawi after three months of operation and to Kuta Kinabalu, Malaysia, one year later.
Also, Pasigan said that the opening of the Airline is expected to boost investor confidence in the autonomous region as well as having a continuous growth in investments.
The BBOI’s report said that the BARMM had a total of P3.7 billion of investments, already surpassing the office’s 2024 target of P2.6 billion.
