THE Bureau of Customs (BOC) said that they were able to surpass their January 2024 collection target.
In a statement, the BOC said that they were able to generate some P73.329 billion in revenue for January, which is more than the P71.779 billion for the month by 2.16% or P1.550 billion.
Based on their record, the BOC’s January collection was also higher by 3.88% year-on-year.
“This notable increase is attributed to the Bureau’s improved system of determining the customs value of imported goods, strengthened border protection, and concrete trade facilitation efforts,” it said.
Meanwhile, BOC Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio said that the Customs is geared up for intensified efforts in 2024.
“We are committed to working twice as hard to ensure that we not only meet but exceed our year-end revenue target,” said Rubio.
They said that for 2024, the BOC is tasked to collect nearly P1 trillion while the Bureau of Internal Revenue needs to collect P3.05 trillion to hit the government total revenue target of P4.3 trillion.
