Damosa Land, Inc. (DLI) and Davao Light and Power Company (DLPC) have officially broken ground on the San Pedro Substation at the Anflo Industrial Estate (AIE), marking a significant infrastructure milestone aimed at enhancing the estate’s power capacity. The project, formalized through a memorandum of agreement signed on August 19, is set to strengthen AIE’s role as an investment-ready hub by ensuring reliable and efficient energy for its growing locator community.
AIE, a 63-hectare PEZA-accredited economic zone, is attracting both local and global companies engaged in sectors such as manufacturing, agribusiness, food processing, and logistics. The new 43MVA substation is designed to provide stable power for the estate’s continued growth.
“As more global companies invest in AIE, reliable and cost-efficient power becomes critical,” said Ricardo Lagdameo, President of Damosa Land, Inc. “This substation is a key strategic investment that strengthens our competitive edge and ensures the long-term sustainability of industrial operations in Mindanao.”
The substation’s construction will be completed in phases. The first 10 MVA is expected to be energized by June 2026, with the remaining 33 MVA coming online by December 2027. The facility will directly support major AIE locators such as HEAD Sport Philippines, GMAC Logitech Refrigeration Corporation, and Thai Coconut Public Company Limited (COCOCO), which are expanding operations within the estate.
“The San Pedro Substation is designed to ensure a stable power supply for current and future growth within AIE,” said Arnel D. Bersabe, Senior Assistant Vice President for Panabo and Davao del Norte at DLPC. “Located within the estate, the substation improves reliability by minimizing outages and will be DLPC’s sixth digital substation, featuring advanced automation, modern protection systems, and a solar-powered control room.”
In addition to supporting AIE, the substation will enhance power reliability for surrounding communities in Panabo City. Integrated into Davao Light’s expanded network, the substation will assist neighboring facilities during emergency interruptions, reducing disruptions for customers. As AIE continues to grow and attract more locators, it is expected to create more job opportunities for the local workforce.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by executives from Damosa Land and Davao Light, local government officials, and members of the locator community. With construction now underway, the substation will play a crucial role in AIE’s future expansion and in strengthening Mindanao’s position as a leading industrial and investment destination.
“We are committed to enhancing AIE’s infrastructure to support the growth of our locators,” Lagdameo added. “This substation is just the first of several key projects that will ensure AIE remains a world-class industrial hub, attracting new investors and creating more opportunities for the local workforce.”
