MARIKINA City Mayor Marcelino “Marcy” Teodoro announced that they were given the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) for its exemplary public service and good governance.

For achieving such prestigious award, the DILG turned over the P2.3 million incentive check to the local government unit (LGU) Marikina City which was personally handed by DILG-NCR Regional Director Maria Lourdes Agustin to Teodoro during the awarding ceremony at the Marikina City Hall.

Agustin explained that the Seal of Good Governance is a recognition that  symbolizes the commitment and dedication of local government units to adhere to the highest standards of governance.

In his acceptance speech, Teodoro expressed gratitude to the DILG for recognizing the collective efforts of the city government of Marikina.

“Kailangan maintindihan natin na mahalaga ang may pamantayan. Mahalaga na mayroong tayong standard na sinusunod,” he said.

Agustin said the award given to Marikina LGU reflects the collective efforts of leaders, public servants, and the entire Marikina community.

“The Seal of Good Local Governance Incentive Fund, a financial reward for your city's outstanding performance, stands as a testament to the national recognition and support garnered,” she said.

The P2.3 million from the DILG, she said, is not merely a monetary reward; it is an investment in the future of Marikina. 

“As we celebrate this achievement, let us not forget the responsibilities that come with it. The Seal of Good Local Governance is a constant reminder that the expectations are high, and the bar has been set,” said Agustin.
