THE Department of Energy said that a price freeze is in effect on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and kerosene for several parts of Agusan del Norte and Davao de Oro due to a state of calamity due to rains and floods.
The DOE made the announcement on social media where the 11-kilogram cylinders of household LPG and kerosene products prices are on freeze mode.
Among the areas where the price freeze includes:
·Municipality of Las Nieves, Agusan del Norte – Feb. 5 to 19, 2024
·Butuan City, Agusan del Norte – Feb. 7 to 21, 2024
·Barangay Agusan Pequeño, Bading, Fort Poyohan, Mahogany, Maug, Obrero, San Vicente in Butuan, Agusan del Norte – Feb. 8 to 22, 2024
·Municipality of Maco, Davao de Oro – Feb. 7 to 21, 2024
According to the DOE, the said areas had experienced flooding and landslides due to the effects of the shear line.
It will be recalled that a fatal landslide occurred in Maco, Davao de Oro where the death toll is now at 92 individuals with over 26 people still missing.
The Caraga region will be experiencing cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the effects of the easterlies.
They were also among the named regions alongside Northern Mindanao, Davao, Soccsksargen and Bangsamoro to have experienced flooding and landslides, leading to a total of 1,521,478 people or 455,265 families affected across said areas.
