In a bid to continuously champion urban safety, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) led in the inauguration of the expansion, upgrading, and maintenance of active transport infrastructure and construction of the end-of-trip cycling facilities in Metro Cebu.

The project encompasses the establishment of a total of 67.19 kilometers (both ways) of Class 1, 2, and 3 bike lanes along selected roads in the cities of Cebu, Lapu-Lapu, and Mandaue, as well as the municipalities of Cordova and Talisay.

Also included in the project’s scope are the maintenance and upgrading of a total of 124.69 kilometers (both ways) of bike lanes and the establishment of end-of-trip cycling facilities with 138 bike racks and five (5) bike repair stations installed in the metro’s 23 more locations.

These vast improvements are envisioned to benefit thousands of Cebuanos—providing them with safer, even more comfortable, and convenient use of active transportation.
