DOTr says thy have deal with Meralco for Metro Manila subway power

MANILA Electric Company (Meralco) will serve as the power distribution utility for the Metro Manila Subway project, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said as they signed a deal with the distributor.

 

According to the DOTr, the partnership with Meralco will give them a chance to construct facilities at the Valenzuela Depot of the Metro Manila Subway.

 

Among these include the inking of the Switching Station Agreement with Deeds of Usufruct.

 

Likewise, the DOTr is expected to provide Meralco with a switching station area of 1,743 square meters.

 

This will be used for the interconnection of the Metro Manila Subway to the energy provider’s distribution network.

 

Meanwhile, the Transportation Department also said that once they grant a lot for Meralco, the power distributor shall finance, install, construct, control, operate and maintain the required facilities, among the Switching Station for the Metro Manila Subway interconnection.

 

Meanwhile, Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista narrated that the deal with Meralco could guarantee commuters uninterrupted power and reliable service from the railway system.”

 

“I would like to thank Meralco for your support as this agreement will help the Metro Manila Subway a step closer to reality,” said Bautista.

 

The Metro Manila Subway has a total project cost of P488.48 billion or ¥1.08 trillion. It is expected to be fully completed and operational by 2029.

 

The said subway will run for 33 kilometers from Valenzuela to Bicutan and have 17 stations.
