THE Energy Regulatory Commission said that since March 1, 2024, the public can now check on their website, the rates charged by the various power generation plants in the country.
This enhancement in the ERC interactive map showing the location of the different power plants and their corresponding latest rates is part of ERC’s continuing efforts to innovate, enhance consumer education, and promote transparency in the energy industry.
Consumers using the ERC website may now access an improved feature in its existing interactive map providing the public with comprehensive details on generation facilities, including the technology used, the status of approval, and their latest ERC-approved rates.
Energy stakeholders will be able to view updated costs of generation firms and
compare electricity rates, allowing the Filipino consumers to make informed choices on electricity consumption and energy expenditures.
For the initial roll-out, the ERC website reflects the latest implemented rates of power plants in the Western Visayas region. In the coming weeks, the public can expect the interactive map to be in full swing with the data available for all generation facilities in the rest of the Visayas region, as well as in Luzon and Mindanao.
“This initiative marks another milestone in our journey of promoting greater
transparency in the power industry. As the country’s energy regulator, we hope that
through this effort, we can encourage the public to be engaged in the process
undertaken by their utilities in contracting for the least cost and reliable supply of
power,” ERC Chairperson and CEO Monalisa C. Dimalanta said.
Aside from the approved rates, the ERC website also reflects the latest implemented rates of each plant and the corresponding billing month it covers, the plant capacity and the DU-contracted capacity for each generation facility, and other relevant information.
