OIL companies announced a new round of oil price hikes, the fifth straight for gasoline and diesel in as many weeks this year, and the second straight for kerosene.

In separate advisories Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp. said that their price hikes for gasoline would go up by P0.75, diesel by P1.50, and kerosene by P0.80.

Meanwhile, Cleanfuel said that they will make the same changes, excluding kerosene which it does not carry.

The said adjustments are effective at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, February 6, for Shell, and at 4:01 p.m. the same day for Cleanfuel.

Other oil companies are expected to make their announcements within the day.

The Department of Energy earlier said through the Oil Industry Management Bureau (OIMB), that the drone attacks and fires to oil facilities of Russia, and proposals to extend the production cut of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and its partners is what caused the continued increase.

Last week, oil firms hiked the liter of gasoline by P2.80, diesel by P1.30, and kerosene by P0.45.
