SENATOR Cynthia Villar said that she is pushing that violators of agricultural smuggling should be slapped with a non-bailable crime that is punishable by life imprisonment.

Villar said that such a bill is just right for smugglers, profiteers, hoarders and cartels of agricultural and fishery products.

The bill has just passed the third reading.

The senator also said that there should be no compromise with regards to the imposition of the severe penalty.

Such should be applied to masterminds of agricultural smuggling.

“May mga pwedeng mag-compromise pero hindi yung life imprisonment at non-bailable,” Villar said.

She also said that severe penalties should be the case as it will send a signal to the criminals.
