THE National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said that the Luzon Grid is again on yellow alert.
According to their advisory, the Luzon grid will be on yellow alert from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
In a statement, the NGCP said that the available capacity of 14,902 megawatts (MW) is up against an expected peak demand of 13,823 MW.
The NGCP said that a total of four plants were placed on forced outage since 2023, four between January and March 2024, and 13 since April 2024, while 1 other is running on a derated capacity.
It sums up 1,443.3 MW unavailable to the grid, the NGCP said.
The yellow alert is being issued when the operating margin is not enough to meet the transmission grid’s contingency requirement.
