The Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) is set to reactivate its motorist assistance program from Oct. 29 to Nov. 3 as part of safety preparations for the upcoming Undas.

In a statement on Monday, the MPTC said its “Biyaheng Arangkada” motorist assistance program aims to intensify safety operations through increased personnel deployment, 24/7 traffic monitoring and quick response teams.

The MPTC is the operator and maintenance provider of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), the Subic–Clark–Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), NLEX Connector, Cavite–Laguna Expressway (CALAX), Manila–Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) and Cebu–Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX).

“Around 2,000 traffic, toll, and emergency personnel will be on duty across MPTC expressways, in coordination with the (PNP) Philippine National Police, (LGUs) local government units, and key agencies,” it said.

At CAVITEX, the MPTC said “Biyaheng Arangkada” will be implemented with PEA Tollway Corporation, a subsidiary of the Philippine Reclamation Authority.”

As part of the program, the MPTC will provide free towing for Class 1 and Class 1M (for CCLEX) vehicles to the nearest exit from 6 a.m. on Oct. 30 to 6 a.m. on Nov. 3.

Road works will also be suspended during the period to keep traffic flowing smoothly, aside from emergency repairs.

MPTC said motorists can use the MPT DriveHub app for real-time traffic updates, RFID reloading, and assistance.

“As part of the MVP Group’s efforts, Maynilad will provide free bottled water, while Smart Communications will offer free Wi-Fi and charging stations in select areas,” it added.

It advised motorists to plan their trips and avoid peak hours, particularly on Wednesday afternoon, Thursday afternoon to Friday evening, the morning of Nov. 1, the afternoon of Nov. 2, and the morning until noon of Nov. 3.
