PEEKUP, a new player in the ride-hailing industry, promised customers of a better experience when booking a much cheaper ride when compared to others in the market.
Dave Almarinez, CEO of PeekUp, told the ABS-CBN News Channel that the founders have thought of helping the consumers get to their destinations safety, comfortably and cheaper so they set up another car ride app.
They said the owners themselves experienced difficulties in booking rides during rush hours and during the rainy season.
Almarinez said that it would sometimes take 30 minutes just to book a ride.
There are also times when the drivers would still cancel the booking even after the customer had already waited that long.
Almarinez promised that PeekUp will minimize such issues of cancellations after their launch.
"They'll find it very surprising," Almarinez said.
Among the areas where PeekUp will launch will be in Metro Manila and nearby provinces like Laguna, Cavite, Bulacan and Rizal "several weeks from today."
The platform also seeks to onboard 27,000 drivers within the year.
After the exit of Uber in 2018, Grab has been lording it over the car-ride app in the Philippines.
Many other companies have tried to set up a similar service, but none were able to compete with Grab.
Aside from PeekUp, another app called InDrive was given the green light to operate in the country.
