Collaboration among stakeholders from the Information Technology-Business Process Management (IT-BPM) sector, education, and the government backs the continued leadership of the Philippines in the business process outsourcing (BPO) space, among others.

Also, the Philippines’ IT-BPM sector’s revenues are seen to expand by 5 percent this year and next year to $42 billion, to be driven by the integration of agentic artificial intelligence (AI).

Inkee Hidalgo, vice president of learning & development of global digital business services provider TP, said “the expertise that the country has developed through over two decades of growing and managing the BPO space is the foundation for the Philippines to continue to be in the forefront.”

“A strong partnership with the government, the education sector, and the IT-BPM enterprises will be critical in staying ahead, and ensuring talent availability,” he said in a statement sent to the Philippine News Agency.

This partnership, he said, is shown through, among others, TP’s tie-up with the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) for the TP Emerging Leaders Development Program (TELDP), aimed at building the firm’s leadership pipeline.

Under the TELDP, high-potential TP employees will undergo a one-year leadership and mentorship training to be facilitated by AIM.

Hidalgo said 18 high-potential senior TP leaders will undergo the training starting this year.

Jeffrey Johnson, TP’s Chief People Officer, said “building a strong talent pipeline through people development and creating meaningful career growth opportunities for all team members are at the heart of our work in Human Resources.”

“This partnership with AIM is a continuation and reaffirmation of that mission. By giving TP talents leadership training and a clear-cut L&D pathway, not only are we investing in their future, but also more importantly, we are strengthening the country’s IT-BPM industry. We’re incredibly thrilled to develop the next generation of leaders and help them sustain meaningful careers,” he said.

Employment forecast for next year is around 1.97 million, with workers expected to move up the value chain as more innovative services are introduced.
