An official of Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) reaffirmed the company’s commitment to working with the government to help grow the local automotive industry.
“TMP is grateful to the Filipino government for its current program, and we remain committed to working closely in revitalizing the automotive industry as a driver of nation building,” TMP President Masandro Hashimoto said during the company’s annual media thanksgiving party Thursday night.
TMP is among the companies selected under the government’s Comprehensive Automotive Resurgence Strategy (CARS) program, which aims to boost local manufacturing through the production of about 200,000 units of enrolled models over six years.
Hashimoto said TMP posted a 46 percent market share in 2025 after selling 229,447 units, up 5.2 percent year-on-year, driven by strong demand for locally produced models such as the Innova, Vios and Tamaraw FX.
“The numbers show that the Filipino craft is very much alive with 63,804 units produced in our Santa Rosa manufacturing plant,” he said.
For one, TMP sold around 17,542 units of Tamaraw FX last year, following its relaunch in the domestic market in December 2024.
Hashimoto said demand for his model came not just from micro, small and medium enterprise (MSMEs), but the buyers who prefer it since it is customizable, fuel efficient and affordable.
“It is truly a symbol of supporting nation building by enabling better mobility for all,” he said.
The company is set to release five new major models this year.
