MAJOR real estate contractors and construction firms are rallying behind property giant Megaworld’s legal battle against construction firm DATEM, Inc.
Megawide Construction Corp. released a statement where they said they highlighted the mutual respect and professionalism with Megaworld.
“Megawide has no commercial or collection issues with Megaworld. These challenges are normal occurrences in the construction business and were experienced across the board during the pandemic, but as long as we maintain proper communication with all parties, clients and contractors can resolve these issues amicably,” Edgar Saavedra, president and chief executive officer, Megawide was quoted as saying.
Meanwhile, DDT Konstract, Inc. A partner of the real estate developer since 2013 also expressed support to Megaworld.
“The relationship between Megaworld and DDT Konstract, Inc. has been based on mutual respect, both contractually and between people within both organizations. We have maintained a working relationship in our multi-billion-peso project undertakings in a manner where differences are discussed, resolved, and agreed upon in a timely manner,” Danilo Tamayo, president, DDT Konstract, Inc. said.
One of Megaworld’s long-standing partners also highlighted how its partnership with the company, which now spans nearly four decades, has been anchored on nurturing a mutually sound relationship.
“Our business relationship has been of a true and lasting partnership and mutuality in business dealings fostered by decades of cooperation and professionalism,” said Joseph Lim, president, Universal Steel Smelting Co. Inc., a company that has been reinforcing steel bars for Megaworld and its subsidiaries since the property giant’s very first project back in the 1990s, One Beverly Place located at Annapolis Street in Greenhills, San Juan.
ASEC Development & Construction Corporation (ASEC), which has been working with Megaworld since 2011, also expressed its support for the real estate developer.
“Through our many years of business and contractual relationships, both our companies have professionally embraced the heart of all contracts: respect and integrity,” says Angelito Gerardo Esquivel, chairman, ASEC.
Another major construction company, EEI Corporation also joined the chorus of firms and partners expressing their support for Megaworld.
“For several years, EEI has worked with Megaworld on numerous projects. EEI enjoys a strong relationship with Megaworld and continues to work closely with them in major developments, including the Arcovia City project,” says Henry D. Antonio, director, president, and CEO, EEI Corporation.
Earlier, Megaworld refuted questionable claims made by DATEM Inc. and highlighted how the construction company reneged on its commitment to deliver the projects initially contracted to them.
“DATEM, Inc. repeatedly failed to fulfill its obligation to Megaworld in completing the projects that have been assigned to them. Because of this, Megaworld was forced to have other contractors take over the projects due to DATEM’s gross negligence and blatant disregard for project completion timelines,” Megaworld said in a statement.
“Megaworld never committed fraud in its dealings with DATEM. Perhaps, what is considered fraudulent is demanding payments for the projects they failed to deliver excellently and on time,” the property giant added.
