DIGITAL wallet provider GCash said that they are urging vendors that are using social media platforms to use digital payment instead of actual cash, to enable them to tap services that will help grow their businesses.

According to GCash operator G-Xchange, Inc. (GXI) president and chief executive officer Ren-Ren Reyes there are many "social sellers," to which the people who are selling products and services through social media platforms, are still using personal GCash accounts.

According to Reyes, the GXI would like to help the non-registered businesses in social media in order to get on board "GCash for Business."

"I think, we still see a lot of pain points that our businesses are experiencing and we want to be able to, you know, partner with them and solve these pain points," he added.

Likewise Reyes added that particularly in the informal sector, have been doing their businesses on social media.

But they do not have proper documents to legitimize their operations, hampering them to access loans that could be used to expand their business.

Reyes said that GXI is closely working with the regulators in helping micro and small entrepreneurs register their businesses with minimal requirements.

They estimated 6 million business users, including micro enterprises like social media sellers, that have been using GCash in their operations, including receiving payments.
