THE Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas said that investment inflows has fallen to a three-year low in September.
This is due to the double-digit decline in foreign funds that are coming into the debt instruments and equity capital during the month.
The Foreign direct investment (FDI) net inflows were tallied at $422 million in September.
This is 42.2% lower than the $731 million a year ago.
It is also down from $790 million in the previous month.
The BSP noted that the figure is the lowest in three years.
That is because the FDI net inflows stood at $314 million in April 2020.
Broken down, nonresidents’ net investments in equity capital other than reinvestment of earnings fell 43.9% to $105 million from $187 million the previous year, while reinvestment of earnings declined by 9.9% to $79 million from $87 million.
