THE Bureau of Customs said that they were able to collect more than P800 billion in their fuel-marking program.

According to the data from the BOC, Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio revealed that the  revenues coming from the fuel-marking program has reached P801.55 billion.

This is equivalent to 70.48 billion liters of marked fuel products.

According to the data, P771.74 came from excise tax that was collected by the BOC from September 2019 to Nov. 30, 2023.

Meanwhile, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), had P29.81 billion collections from December 2019 to Oct. 28, 2021.

They said that the fuel marking had involved injecting chemical identifiers into tax-paid oil products after the taxes are paid on refined and imported gasoline, diesel, and kerosene.

Meanwhile, fuel marking is mandated under the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion Act (TRAIN) as a measure against the smuggling of petroleum products.

The BOC explained that they raised P49 million from the auction of four seized luxury cars.

"We have in our auction plan, one in Davao scheduled (for) Dec. 4, 2023. Projected revenue based on floor price is about P49 million," he said.
