PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. signed a measure that is expected to modernize and likewise increase the efficiency of tax administration so as to strengthen taxpayer rights.
Malacañang said that Republic Act 11976, also known as "Ease of Paying Taxes Act," will greatly contribute to the government's 8-Point Socioeconomic Agenda through improved revenue collection.
The said new law, which is one of Marcos' priority legislations, supports the government's socioeconomic agenda through the collection of more taxes to enhance economic and social development.
Malacañang said that among the salient features include the classification of taxpayers into micro, small, medium, and large; electronic or manual filing of returns and payment taxes either to the Bureau of Internal Revenue, through any authorized agent bank or authorized tax software provider.
There is also an option to pay internal revenue taxes to the city or municipal treasurer; and elimination of the distinction between documentation and basis of sales of goods and services.
Lastly, there will be a classification of value-added tax refund claims into low, medium and high-risk.
