THE Bureau of Customs has surpassed its revenue goal for 2023.

This was the pronouncement made by the Department of Finance (DOF), as they said that the BOC had collected P883.624 billion from January to December last year.

This exceeds the target collection of P874.166 billion.

Meanwhile, based on the year-on-year, the bureau’s revenues grew by 2.46% from P862.419 billion in 2022.

On the other hand, the BOC’s sale of forfeited goods that were done using public auctions from January to December 31, 2023 had accumulated P164.503 million in revenues.

The DOF said that the BOC digitized 161 out of 166 customs processes.

This amassed a 96.99% digitalization rate.

They also said that as of December 31, 2023, a total of 90 criminal cases have been filed by the BOC before the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Some 60 of the said number were related to agricultural smuggling.
