Globe looks at data centers and non-telco units

GLOBE Telecoms said that they are looking at their data centers and non-telecom business units in order to boost their growth amid slower growth in telco services.

 

According to the Ayala-led telco, they said in their earlier report that their net income fell 27 percent in the Jan. to Sept. period.

 

This is even as their revenues increased.

 

According to Globe President and CEO Ernest Cu, they are still "quite pleased with its 2023 performance to date" with the telco business "quite stable."

He also said that the biggest contribution to Globe's non-telco businesses which has a 44 percent yearly growth, and is 3.4 percent of the company's total consolidated service revenues.
 

They also said that their unit Mynt, that operates the digital provider fintech app GCash, contributes 6 percent of the company's net income before tax. 
 

"We are very optimistic that that business will be able to start bring about revenue to Globe if not at the end of 24 then in early 2025," Cu said. 
 

Earlier, Globe, Ayala Corp and Singapore-based ST Telemedia Global Data Centers conducted a groundbreaking for STT Cavite 2, the group's 6-megawatt facility and second data center in the province. 

 

"As that inventory becomes available we fully expect to be able to further contribute to Globe's bottom line," said Carlo Malana, President and CEO of Globe subsidiary STT GDC Philippines.
