THE Bureau of Treasury (BTr) said that the national government's (NG) debt payments has gone up by 15 percent as of September this year.
Data from the BTr said that the debt service bill for September is at P238.9 billion, up from last year's P206.9 billion.
It said that more than half of the debt payments had gone to the amortization.
The BTr added that the principal payments is at P167.5 billion, which is higher by 13.9 percent compared to last year’s P147 billion.
All in all the BTr had paid P148.8 billion for domestic lenders, and P18.6 billion to foreign creditors.
For interest payments meanwhile, it amounted to P71.4 billion, which went up 19.3 percent from the P59.8 billion that was tallied last year.
On the interest on local debt rose to P55.8 billion this year from P47.7 billion in 2022.
