Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Ivan John E. Uy is set to represent the Philippines in two eminent events for the global ICT sector in Geneva, Switzerland: the AI for Good Global Summit 2024 and the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS)+20 Forum High-Level Event.

Secretary Uy will join fellow ministers, representatives from the United Nations (UN), non-government organizations, civil society members, academe, and C-level industry leaders in exploring possible applications of Artificial Intelligence to address pressing global development issues such as health, climate, gender, inclusive prosperity, and sustainable infrastructure.

The AI for Good Global Summit is preceded by the WSIS+20 Forum, a pivotal platform that will meticulously assess achievements, discern key trends, and confront challenges that have emerged since the 2003 Geneva Plan of Action.

Tasked to steer the Philippines’ ICT development agenda, DICT’s participation in these two events underscores the country’s commitment to leveraging AI for positive societal impact and to shaping the future of AI governance in the country and beyond.
