DAVAO CITY— A Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education initiative is being started in Mati City, Davao Oriental.
The initiative dubbed “STEMming the Future: Powering Up Education in Davao Oriental,” will involve the Department of Science and Technology through the Provincial Science and Technology Office-Davao Oriental, the Department of Education – Davao Oriental, and the Department of Education – City of Mati.
The three offices will jointly conduct teacher training, deploy educational resources, implement STEM-focused projects, and monitor activities across public schools in the Mati City, Davao Oriental.
These programs aim to enrich the knowledge and capacity of both educators and students in the wide spectrum of STEM education.
To jumpstart the project a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was recently signed by the Provincial S&T Office-Davao Oriental, the Department of Education – Davao Oriental, and the Department of Education – City of Mati.
“This collaboration will help improve the capacity of our teachers and raise students’ interest in STEM. DOST XI remains committed to supporting education initiatives that build local capabilities through Science and Technology,” DOST-Davao Regional Director Anthony Sales said.
The STEM initiative will boost DOST Davao Region’s Smart and Sustainable Cities and Communities (SSCC) and Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) in the communities of Davao Oriental.
