RAMON S. Ang, the president and chief executive of San Miguel Corp. (SMC) was included among Forbes Asia’s 2023 Heroes of Philanthropy.

Ang is the only Filipino that is included in the list as it highlights business leaders that donate from their fortunes.

They likewise dedicate time and attention to their causes.

According to the article, Ang made a donation pledge of P500 million in order to  build schools for underprivileged children in Manila.

He also built a personal contribution of over P150 million to scholarship grants and medical aid.

At the height of the COVID-19 in 2020, he personally donated P100 million for the efforts against the pandemic.

Forbes also gave notice to the SMC’s San Miguel Foundation, as it has reportedly spent over P1 billion to put up five schools in Metro Manila, P14.8-billion worth of support relief measures during the COVID-19 pandemic, and another P3 billion for efforts to clean up rivers.

Ang had been listed as the fourth richest Filipino, having an estimated wealth of $3.4 billion.
