THE Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said that the unemployment rate for September rose in September to 4.5%.
This, according to PSA, is when compared to August.
It also said that the underemployment rate dipped.
According to the data from the PSA, the jobless rate has been recorded at 4.5 percent in September.
This is slightly higher than the 4.4 percent clip seen in August.
It translates to 2.26 million jobless Filipino workers in September when compared to 2.21 million in the preceding month.
Meanwhile, the underemployment rate went slightly down in September at 10.7 percent or 5.11 million compared to 11.7 percent or 5.63 million in August.
According to the PSA, the services sector made a significant contribution to job gains.
The PSA also said that the accommodation as well as food service activities also had 608,000 jobs during the month.
This is followed by administrative and support service activities which added 535,000; and construction which added 481,000.
The manufacturing sector meanwhile leads the pack with the largest job losses at 888,000.
This is followed by wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles which lost 722,000 jobs.
On the other hand agriculture and forestry also lost 649,000 jobs.
